One Happy Little Family

A Kraut MG with plenty of ammo around it was all set up for action in one of the windows when two men of Company I, 142nd, entered a house up front. Pfc. Art Southwood, Akron, Ohio, and Pfc. Lewis Jones of Oregon wondered why the set up had been abandoned in such neat order.

When the two men checked the basement, the family who owned the house were ail grouped around a stove, and there with them, not realizing the presence of the Americans in the house, were two Germans who were assigned to man the MG upstairs.
