Bailey Bags Boche Pfc. Samuel E. Bailey of Parkersburg, West Virginia was riding in a jeep with his executive officer when a Kraut sniper opened fire on them. The bullets whizzed by and punctured holes in their bed-rolls. The two occupants jumped out of the vehicle into a nearby ditch. Bailey fired his M-1 when they could observe the sniper moving about 300 yards away. The Jerry became one less obstacle in the path to Bailey’s entrance to the Eternal City. |
