SALERNO Monument Proposed If plans of the Brownwood American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts are successful, a monument of Texas granite will stand at Salerno, Italy, as a memorial to the 36th Division. Officials of the two organizations are seeking now to determine whether Burnett granite—similar to that of which the State Capitol was constructed—is available for the monument. They said as soon as the granite has been obtained, permission will be sought from the War Department to ship the marker to Italy. |
